Trauma-informed Safety and Care
Trauma-Informed Safety and Care (TiSC) is an exciting, collaborative initiative developed to support the wellness and resilience of front-line workers across industries and sectors who engage with vulnerable cohorts in our communities, including those with behaviours of concern or crisis escalation.
TiSC works with organisations and industries to build and improve workforce retention; and educate and equip frontline workers, supervisors and managers with the tangible, real-world skills and tools they need to achieve positive contribution and impact to lives of the people they support and the organisations they contribute to.
Our Services
TiSC has been developed as an innovative and responsive program to assist sectors and support frontline teams working with vulnerable people in crisis situations or who engage in behaviours of concern that put themselves or others at significant risk of harm.
Why TiSC?
We recognise that many vulnerable people are likely to have experienced some form of complex trauma, so there is a need to balance duty of care with dignity of risk whilst maintaining workplace health and safety standards.
With the increasing focus on restrictive practice including use of force in these responses, frontline line workers are increasingly at risk of breaching legislation, regulation and the law. Such breaches can also have legal ramifications for the worker’s employer including supervisors and management.
Unfortunately, frontline workers rarely receive the required training to equip them with the tangible skills to address the needs of vulnerable people, including many who may have experienced complex trauma. Without appropriate training and information, the actions of frontline workers may risk their own safety and the safety and care of the vulnerable person, unintentionally leading to re-traumatisation of that person.
The TiSC team works with our clients to ensure that any intervention is the least restrictive option by applying the principles of trauma informed care. We build networks and partnerships with frontline workers, supervisory and management structures, organisations and industries to increase their understanding of how to empower the personal growth of their team members and ensure a safe environment for the delivery of quality supports via our trauma informed care training and ongoing collaboration and assistance.
